State of the art does not work for everyone

Golfers are told, “hit down to make the ball go up”. Tennis players are told, “hit up to make the ball go down”. No wonder the amateur struggles. Finally, a breakthrough in sports instruction. Years of basic research, common sense thinking, and one simple realization. The current state of the art has not worked for many club-level players.

Information aggregation and integration

We do the work for you. Aggregation, integration and data mining. We mine 100’s of sources for new and effective, ideas and products. Web sites, magazines, newsletters, videos, books, academies, etc. Then we separate the wheat from the chaff, the useful stuff from the non-sense, and no “illusion of abundance”.

The “what” doesn’t help.

We need the “how”! Traditional instruction books, DVDs, and Web sites simply describe (often with pictures and videos) and assign a language to, a very high-level sports motion — that of a pro.  They tell you what a pro does, sometimes why, but not how s/he does it.  Again, this is like studying slow-motion video of Yo-Yo Ma and then trying to play cello.

We need the how, not the what!  In addition,  the traditional approach will often throw in a bunch of science and worse, pseudo-science in an attempt to gain credibility in the eyes of the reader.

Myths & Misconceptions

Myths & Misconceptions. Bad influences. A good deal of traditional instruction and related language is not only not helpful, but can actually do more harm than good! For example, What does the word, “swing” mean to you?

Are you in the information age, or misinformation age?

How will I know?

R&D and Focus Groups

Start your experimenting here at TennisBridge. Through trial and error, you WILL get there, and the work is half the fun. 100’s of tips, tricks and techniques are presented here to help you learn the pro mechanics, exertions and timing.

We have spent the last 10 years carefully studying a focus group of four academies — our laboratory. From total beginners, 3.x players, 4.x, 5.x, ranked high school players, tier1 and 2 college scholarship players, open level players, ex and current ATP and WTA pros — we have seen it all close up. The contrasts and comparisons are both startling and interesting. Why such a big difference?

We continue to search for, refine, and develop visualizations and easy-to-perform related motions that mirror the correct exertions. You can experience, or sense, what’s right. It might not feel right at first, but give them a try and let the results be the judge. We won’t preach or pretend to have the secrets. Actually we do know the secret to tennis and you can read it here. We’ll bet you will be surprised.
